DIPLAT organizes Open Meeting with Swiss Photonics Zurich

The open meeting on November 13, 2014 will explore following topics:

  • Industrial potential for short and ultra-short pulsed laser machining of ultra-hard materials
  • CAM/Simulation developments of the ultra-short laser pulse machining
  • Latest advances in multi-axis laser production centers
  • Novel laser manufacturing strategies for grinding, polishing and micro-tools

The flyer with further information can be downloaded here.
The detailed program of the meeting can be found here.

LaserLine installed at ETH

The EWAG Laser Line Machine was delivered to ETH Zurich on April 25, 2013.

The machine tool features five mechanical high precision axis and three additional LASER-axis.This enables highly flexible machining of complex geometries, as required in the DIPLAT project.

The LaserLine is equipped with a picosecond LASER system and three nanosecond fibre-LASERs with different wavelengths. This setup allows for a broad spectrum of experimental pulsed LASER ablation studies.

The machine has been put into operation immediately after delivery and the ETH personnel is strongly engaged in training sessions for the machine application.

Project Start & Kick-Off Meeting

The DIPLAT project was officially launched on January 15, 2013. On January 16, representatives of all consortium members attended the kick-off meeting at ETH Zurich, Switzerland.
The meeting was a great opportunity for each participant to present their company and their contribution to DIPLAT. A number collaborative initial actions were planned to ensure a successful project ramp-up.
